Clinical Research Coordinator, Varying Levels; Cardiovascular Medicine The Division of Cardiovascular Medicine (Interventional Cardiology) at the University of Virginia’s School of Medicine is seeking Clinical Research Coordinators (CRC) at various skill and experience levels to join a dynamic growing team of clinical research professionals.

Responsibilities

Recruitment, screening, and enrolling study participants who meet research criteria.

Consenting of research subjects and maintaining telephone and in‑person contact.

Collecting basic and detailed study data through scripted and non‑scripted interviews.

Planning and executing study tasks, including preparation of study materials and laboratory specimens.

Maintaining appropriate logs, tracking participants, and preparing study documentation.

Ensuring compliance with protocol guidelines and regulatory agency requirements.

Quality management of the trial portfolio and problem‑solving to support study success.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Minimum Requirements – Non‑Licensed

CRC 1 (Non‑Licensed) Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Experience: None, with preferred healthcare or medical terminology knowledge.

CRC 2 (Non‑Licensed) Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Experience: At least one year of clinical research experience.

CRC 3 (Non‑Licensed) Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Experience: Minimum of three years of clinical research experience; Master’s degree may substitute for one year of experience. CCRC/CCRP certification required within one year of hire.

CRC 4 (Non‑Licensed) Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent. Experience: At least seven years of progressive clinical research responsibility. Master’s or advanced degree may substitute for one year of experience. CCRC/CCRP required within one year of hire.

Minimum Requirements – Licensed

Licensure : Licensed to practice in a clinical profession such as Registered Nurse, Athletic Training, Pharmacology, Medical Technology, Physical Therapy, or Registered Respiratory Therapy.

CRC 1 (Licensed) Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Nursing Diploma may substitute. Experience: None.

CRC 2 (Licensed) Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Nursing Diploma may substitute. Experience: At least one year of clinical research experience.

CRC 3 (Licensed) Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Nursing Diploma may substitute. Experience: Minimum of three years of clinical research experience; Master’s may substitute for one year of experience. CCRC/CCRP required within one year of hire.

CRC 4 (Licensed) Education: Bachelor’s Degree; Nursing Diploma may substitute. Experience: At least seven years of progressive clinical research responsibility; Master’s may substitute for one year of experience. CCRC/CCRP required within one year of hire.

Preferred Qualifications

Regulatory experience.

Extensive experience managing multiple clinical research studies simultaneously.

Proficiency in computer/automated systems for data purposes.

Effective use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Microsoft OneDrive.

Physical Demands This is a primarily sedentary role involving extensive use of a desktop computer, with occasional travel to attend meetings.

Salary & Benefits Salary will be commensurate with education and experience. This is a benefited position. Background checks, pre‑employment health screenings, and drug screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment.

Restricted Position This is a restricted position dependent on funding availability.

Location & Work Setting The position is based in Charlottesville, VA and must be performed fully on‑site. Work settings include the Cardiac Catheterization laboratory, outpatient clinics, inpatient cardiac units, and laboratories across the University.
