Travel CVICU registered nurses (RNs) specialize in cardiac care within an adult critical care unit, providing comprehensive care for critically ill patients with primary cardiac diagnoses. Responsibilities include intensive patient monitoring, management of intra‑aortic balloon pumps, external temporary pacemakers, and continuous renal replacement therapy. RNs may also collaborate with the Cardiac Catheterization Lab to assist in rapid diagnosis and treatment of ST‑elevation myocardial infarction via percutaneous coronary intervention. Caregivers respond to cardiac and respiratory arrests, provide immediate treatment, and offer emotional support and education to patients and families regarding post‑treatment home care.
