Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Staff Accountant with experience in eCommerce accounting and general accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR) processes. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal controls and external regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily, weekly, and monthly accounting tasks related to eCommerce transactions, including revenue recognition, payment reconciliation, and chargeback analysis.
Manage AP/AR functions including invoice processing, vendor payments, customer billing, and collections.
Reconcile bank accounts, merchant accounts, and payment gateways (e.g., Stripe).
Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.
Support audits and compliance reviews by preparing schedules and responding to inquiries.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including operations, sales, and customer service to resolve accounting issues.
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
Assist in the development and maintenance of annual and quarterly budgets.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
7+ years of accounting experience, preferably in an eCommerce or retail environment.
Strong understanding of AP/AR processes and general ledger accounting.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Excel.
Experience with eCommerce platforms and payment processors is highly desirable.
Stripe experience is highly preferred.
Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Preferred Skills
Familiarity with inventory accounting and cost of goods sold (COGS).
Knowledge of sales tax compliance across multiple states.
Experience with ERP systems and automation tools.
