Baystate Health, a nationally recognized leader in healthcare quality and safety, and home to Baystate Medical Center (BMC), is looking for a full‑time Polysomnography Technician to join our Sleep Diagnostics team in Springfield, MA.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the regional home sleep testing (HST) program and the 14‑bed Polysomnography Sleep Lab by performing polysomnographic testing and associated interventions.
Verify medical orders and protocol; complete and verify documentation; explain procedure and orient patients to the sleep center.
Prepare and calibrate equipment required for testing, apply electrodes and sensors according to accepted published standards, and perform appropriate physiological calibration to ensure proper signals.
Perform routine positive airway pressure mask fitting and maintain integrity of VEEG recordings throughout the night.
Follow procedural protocols (e.g., Multiple Sleep Latency Test, CPAP and oxygen titration, etc.) to ensure collection of appropriate data.
Follow “lights out” procedures to establish and document baseline values (body position, oxygen saturation, respiratory and heart rates, etc.).
Acquire polysomnographic data while monitoring study‑tracing quality to ensure artifact‑free signals, identify and report signal abnormalities.
Document routine observations, including sleep stages and clinical events, changes in procedure, and other significant events to facilitate scoring and interpretation.
Assist with appropriate interventions for patient safety and therapeutic needs (continuous or bi‑level positive airway pressure, oxygen administration, etc.).
Assist with scoring sleep/wake stages and clinical events (respiratory events, cardiac events, limb movements, arousals, etc.) per center‑specific protocols.
Generate accurate reports by tabulating sleep/wake and clinical event data.
SCHEDULE
Full‑time, 36 hours per week (rotating schedule).
6:15 pm – 6:45 am, 3 days a week.
Every other weekend.

QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma or GED.
Successfully complete all 26 A‑STEP (Accredited Sleep Technologist Education Program) modules within 12 months of hire.
Commit to a minimum of 20 hours of at‑home studying to support clinical learning and exam readiness.
Obtain the registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) credential within 24 months of hire.
EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS Education: High School Diploma (required). Certifications: Polysomnographic Technologist – Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.
