The CNM-II is an advanced practice nurse who provides full scope midwifery care. The CNM/NP provides care to the patient which is delivered during the antepartum, intrapartum and postpartum periods. The CNM also provides care to the gynecologic patient in the clinic/office setting. High risk patients are cared for in consultation and collaboration with the medical team. The practice setting for the CNM-II will be in the Outpatient Clinic, contractually with Obstetrician\'s offices, the Natural Birth Center, the Family Birth Center Triage and LDRs and the Post Partum unit with the focus on enhancement of clinical care, patient satisfaction, and safety. Clinical care may include first assisting in OB surgical cases. Benefits

Clinical Practice: The CNM provides clinical services and management of mothers and babies as defined in the standing orders, policies, procedures and protocols for the CNM. Performs physical exams, collects and documents data, manages labor and spontaneous delivery, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, and prescribes appropriate interventions and medications. Formulates and implements prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and inter-conceptional care as defined by midwifery scope of practice. Communication/Consultation: Role models advanced practice professional nursing through conduct, appearance, communication, mutual respect, leadership, ethical decision-making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Communicates effectively with patients, families, visitors, healthcare team, physicians, administrators and others and promotes patient and family centered care. Provides continuity, compassionate, culturally sensitive care to patients, and models this for students and colleagues. Limited obstetrical ultrasound to include: completes fetal imaging testing as indicated and appropriate which may include evaluation of fetal well-being, determination of placental location, confirmation of cardiac activity, determination of fetal lie or presentation, estimation of fetal weight Leadership/Quality/Research: Serves on appropriate unit and hospital wide committees related to woman and infant services. Utilizes current research and evidence-based decision-making in all clinical practice. Incorporates clinical research findings in the development and implementation of standards of care. Supports HIC approved clinical research/trials. Education/Professional development: Assess educational needs, plan, provide and evaluate educational programs for nursing staff, interdisciplinary healthcare team, and community. Precept nurse midwifery students and provide education and support to Residents and Medical Students. Provide patient and family education related to prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, newborn and interconceptional care. Demonstrates responsibility for professional practice through active participation in professional organizations and continuing education. Quality control testing of amnioswab and urine dip stick testing on FBC unit. Qualifications
Masters Degree in Nursing: Midwifery Program, accredited by the American College of Nurse Midwives or College of Nurse Midwifery or Nurse Practitioner license is required. 6 months of relevant obstetric nursing experience is required. Advanced practice-CNM experience is preferred but willing to train highly motivated new graduates. LICENSED Registered Nurse (RN) - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire required CERT Certified Nurse-Midwife (CNM) - AMCB American Midwifery Certification Board required NRP - Neonatal Resuscitation Program - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days required C-EFM - Electronic Fetal Monitoring Certification - NCC 180 Days required OB/Gyn (OB) - ARDMS American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography Upon Hire preferred BLS - Basic Life Support - AHA preferred Additional information
