Responsibilities
The Wound, Ostomy, Continence-RN is a nurse specialist whose scope of practice involves the age-specific care of patients aged neonate through geriatric; includes planning, implementing, educating, and evaluating the care of patients with impaired skin integrity, ostomies, and complex or chronic wounds, including surgical wounds. As a clinician, the Wound, Ostomy, Continence-RN provides direct patient care, consultations, assessments, recommendations, and ongoing re-evaluation of nursing care for hospitalized patients and outpatients under the specific scope of practice. The Wound, Ostomy, Continence-RN is a resource for nursing staff, patients, families, and physicians. The Wound, Ostomy, Continence-RN sees patients with a physician or nursing consult as ordered through EPIC.
Qualifications Required:
One year in nursing
Bachelor Degree
One of: CWOCN, CWON or WCC. Must obtain Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWON) or Wound Care Certified (WCC) credential within two years of hire.
Registered Nurse (KY)
Desired:
One year as a wound ostomy nurse
Master Degree
Certified Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse OR Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse
