Location: Sedalia, MO

Position Summary The Direct Support Professional (DSP) in Community Living is vital in advancing the organization's mission by delivering compassionate, person‑centered support to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. The DSP empowers individuals to achieve their highest level of independence by promoting choice, dignity, and inclusion in all aspects of daily life. The DSP fosters skill development, community integration, and meaningful engagement by providing high‑quality, individualized support services while ensuring a safe, supportive, and respectful home environment. In some homes, the DSP may be required to provide additional behavioral or medical support, assisting individuals with healthcare, mobility, or behavioral challenges.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Promote community integration by encouraging active participation in community life, building relationships, accessing local resources, and engaging in programs and recreational activities as outlined in each individual’s Individual Support Plan.

Provide personalized physical and emotional support, ensuring daily living needs are met through housekeeping tasks such as meal preparation, laundry, bed‑making, and cleanliness of the household. Assist with mobility and transfer needs, and encourage use of adaptive devices.

Support health by administering prescribed medications, completing medication records and daily logs, assisting with medical appointments, and coordinating transportation.

Maintain regulatory compliance with documentation, agency policies, and emergency protocols. Demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and ethical standards in all interactions.

Create a positive work culture through courteous, respectful communication with individuals and coworkers.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience working with individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities (preferred).

Valid driver’s license and reliable, licensed, insured vehicle.

Completion of required training courses, including CPR/First Aid, Medication Administration (Med Aide), and Universal Precautions.

Physical Requirements

Lifting and transferring weight greater than 50 lbs., kneeling, pushing, pulling 100‑125 lbs., repetitive lifts and movements, typing and screen use, extended walking or standing.

Shifts Based on the needs of the individuals being served. Status options: PTI 0‑19 hrs, PTII 20‑29 hrs, PTIII 30‑34 hrs, FT 35‑40 hrs.

Starting Wage $18.25 per hour, more depending on experience. Hours and pay subject to change.
