Responsibilities

Promote Acadian Air Med’s mission, vision, and goals while serving as a leader, role model, and clinical resource.

Participate in meetings with the Air Med Management group, including disaster drills, staff meetings, and community/hospital meetings.

Identify areas of concern and communicate with Flight Line Supervisors, Associate Quality Improvement Supervisors, Operations Manager/Supervisor, Chief Flight Nurse, and Quality Improvement Supervisor as necessary.

Assist and work with Associate Quality Improvement Supervisors and Flight Line Supervisors as needed; take on special projects as assigned.

Communicate with Operations Manager/Supervisor and Lead Pilot to ensure timely identification, reporting, and resolution of safety issues.

Promote and uphold safety standards for self, flight line staff, and patients, including HSE standards; report fatigue issues and consult with AMOC/Air Med management.

Conduct careful examinations of patients for signs and symptoms of illness/injury; provide basic, intermediate, or advanced life support care within licensure limits and in accordance with approved protocols.

Ensure safe and efficient transport of patients in the air ambulance and proper handover at the destination.

Document patient condition and treatment on ePCR run reports and other required forms; complete assigned station duties and necessary company reports and logs.

In the absence of other qualified personnel, use basic extrication tools and procedures and control the patient’s surroundings to minimize danger.

Follow FCC regulations while communicating via electronic communications equipment.

Perform any temporary ground ambulance duties when the aircraft cannot fly.

Maintain required qualifications for EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate, and Paramedic job descriptions.

Equipment & Supplies

Conduct regular aircraft inventory and equipment testing to ensure all equipment is present, clean, and functioning.

After transport, perform all duties that return the aircraft and equipment to service.

Maintain comprehensive knowledge of air ambulance equipment and report required repairs to maintenance departments.

Employment Expectations

Obtain PHTLS, PALS, and NRP certifications within 12 months of hire (in‑house training provided).

Obtain Advanced Credentials CFRN/CTRN within 18 months of hire; satisfy CAMTS standards.

Work PRN in hospital while employed with Acadian Air Med as required by CAMTS.

Carry current Company ID, Nursing License, BLS/CPR, ACLS card (AHA guidelines); instructor cards accepted; hold applicable Driver’s License.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED.

Registered Nurse with Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or equivalent.

Body weight of 210 lbs or less in uniform.

Must be able to report to the assigned Air Med station within 90 minutes drive time from residence.

BLS, ACLS, and a valid driver’s license required.

Minimum 3 years of full‑time experience in a high‑volume Emergency Room or ICU (preferred), recent within the last two years.

Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills; sense of urgency; ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
