Paramedic, Emergency Department
We are looking for a paramedic to join our Emergency Department at Summa Health System, Akron Campus. This is a full‑time, 36‑hour/week daytime position.
Responsibilities Provide assistance to Emergency Department physicians, nurses, and respiratory therapists in pre‑hospital and ED triage, stabilization, and transport of patients. Work with a team of clinicians to meet patient needs and ensure safe, quality care.
Qualifications
Successful completion of a course approved by the Ohio Department of Public Safety Division of EMS in Paramedic education and current certification by the State of Ohio.
One (1) year of recent EMT field experience (within the past five years) in a part‑time or full‑time capacity.
Current certification in BLS‑HCP and ACLS.
May require current certification in PALS – varies by location.
Other certifications and competencies as required by the department.
Ability to effectively interact with patients and understand their needs for self‑respect and dignity.
Physical Demands
Heavy: Exerts 50–100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25–50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10–20 pounds of force continuously to move objects.
Ability to move and lift patients.
Compensation Baseline salary exclusive of bonuses or differentials ranges from $23.75 to $28.49 per hour. Factors such as experience and location are considered. Hiring at the maximum of the range is not typical.
