Marymount Hospital, serving the needs of Garfield Heights and the Southeast communities of Cuyahoga County since 1949, is a 269‑bed acute‑care faith‑based hospital and a member of the Cleveland Clinic Healthcare System. The Emergency Department provides 24/7 services, ranging from minor injuries to critical and resuscitative care for patients of all ages.

A caregiver in this position works evening/night rotation from 3:00 p.m. – 3:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. with weekend and holiday requirements.

Responsibilities

Assist in providing patient care in the Emergency Department under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Obtain and record vital signs.

Perform EKGs, CPR, phlebotomy and oral, nasal, and ET suctioning.

Initiate cardiac monitoring, oxygen therapy and saline locks.

Notify the RN and/or physician of rhythm changes.

Apply orthopedic appliances and simple splints.

Size crutches and teach crutch walking.

Assist with equipment setup, chest tubes, gastric lavage, lumbar puncture and other procedures.

Assist with restraint and seclusion of patients and apply restraint devices.

Transport patients and specimens.

Assist with sterile procedures and cleaning and maintaining supplies and equipment.

Maintain confidentiality and respect patient privacy.

Perform fluid/drug administration.

Minimum Qualifications

Completion of an accredited EMS‑Paramedic training program.

Current licensure as an Emergency Medical Technician‑Paramedic (EMTP) in Ohio.

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA).

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the AHA.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification through the AHA upon hire or within one year of start date in the Emergency Department.

Clinical experience through an EMS Paramedic training program.

Preferred Qualifications

International Trauma Life Support (ITLS).

One year of experience as an EMT‑P.

Experience in a hospital setting or city ambulance.

Physical Requirements

Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity, good eye‑hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.

Medium Work – exerts 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, or 10 to 25 pounds frequently, or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects; physical demand exceeds light work.

Personal Protective Equipment

Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.

Pay Range Minimum hourly: $22.00 – Maximum hourly: $32.00.

The pay range displayed reflects the anticipated range for new hires. Actual compensation will be determined after considering factors such as work history, experience, skill set, and education. The pay range does not include shift differentials, overtime, or the value of Cleveland Clinic’s benefits package.
