Phlebotomist - Full Time 40hrs/wk. - Morning
Location:
Methodist Jennie Edmundson, 933 E. Pierce St., Council Bluffs, IA
Work Schedule:
Morning shift 0500-1330/0400-1230; rotates every third weekend and holiday. 40 hours per week.

Job Summary Collect and preserve blood samples and other body fluids for analysis. Perform assigned tasks as a Phlebotomist, ensuring compliance with PPE and laboratory protocols.
Responsibilities
Assist in daily workload.
Comply with PPE guidelines.
Perform basic dermal and venipuncture specimen collection.
Maintain compliance with turnaround time expectations, specimen handling, and documentation.
Accommodate patient and laboratory needs by professional flexibility in duties, schedules, and staffing.
Document orientation, training, and education to ensure competency and meet accreditation requirements.
Communicate efficiently by answering telephones, taking messages, and forwarding information.
Identify problems and initiate follow-up with leadership to ensure accurate, timely laboratory services.
Participate in continuing education and meet required annual CE hours.
Qualifications Education
High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
Participation in mandatory in-services and continuing education programs as required.
Experience
6 months of phlebotomy experience that qualifies for ASCP certification, or approved equivalent, preferred.
OR completion of a structured, ASCP-approved phlebotomy training course or equivalent such as LPN, RN, or MA with experience in venipuncture and dermal puncture.
License/Certifications
ASCP certification or equivalent preferred.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong attention to detail.
Willingness to adjust schedule/shift and pick up open shifts.
Physical Requirements
Medium work: Exert up to 50 pounds of force.
Job Hazards
Rare chemicals: Equipment, machinery, tools.
Frequent hazards: Chemical agents (toxic, corrosive, flammable), latex; biological agents (bloodborne, patient contact); physical hazards (noise, temperature, lighting, wet floors, sharps).
