Base pay range $22.00/hr - $22.00/hr
Shift and Location
1st Shift - Flexible start time, as early as 7:00 AM, working an 8-hour shift
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Safety glasses, lab coat, and safety shoes provided by Xylem
Position Overview The Laboratory Technician performs a variety of tasks under the supervision of a Scientist or Researcher. This role involves executing standard laboratory procedures, adapting processes to support specific projects, and collaborating with maintenance staff to ensure smooth operation of equipment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform laboratory analyses using established methods and adapt processes as needed.
Plan and execute tasks according to production or test schedules.
Collaborate with maintenance personnel on equipment repairs and modifications.
Conduct specific projects under the guidance of technical specialists (e.g., chemists).
Record data, observations, and conclusions from experiments and tests.
Operate conventional and computerized laboratory equipment in accordance with prescribed standards.
Determine chemical and physical characteristics or composition of samples.
Set up, readjust, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment.
Education Requirement
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Chemistry)
Recent graduates are encouraged to apply
Experience and Skills Required
0-3 years of laboratory experience
Capable of performing routine tasks and willing to be trained in basic ion exchange technologies
Strong inductive and deductive reasoning skills
Ability to recognize and report problems
Self-starter able to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Able to work in a fast-paced environment
Physical Requirements
Constant ability to sit, stand, hear, and see
Frequent ability to walk, write, and type
Occasional ability to bend, carry, push, pull, reach, and use stairs
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
May work in environments exposed to dust, dirt, and varying temperatures
