About This Role The Assistant Controller will be responsible for development and production of accurate monthly financial statements including the balance sheet, statement of activities and statement of cash flows.
They will also serve as a lead resource in the division for the budgeting process and accounting requirements of an elevated nature, to include analysis, reporting and processing of financial information.
Required Experience and Education
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business administration, finance, or a related field is required.
Certified Public Accountant preferred, but not required.
At least 8 years of experience in accounting/finance with progressive responsibilities and experience preparing financial reporting.
At least 2 years of management experience.
Demonstrated experience with complex accounting processes, month end close, financial statements, AP, budgeting, and data analysis.
Experience with foreign currency translation is a plus.
Primary Responsibilities
Support annual audits:
Responsible for provision of all reports and data required for audits.
Responsible for financial statement preparation including all footnote disclosures and obtaining audit firm sign-off.
Complete and supervise proper reporting and consolidation of monthly financial statements.
Lead monthly review of financial data submissions, make necessary correcting journal entries as needed and submit a final draft of monthly financial statements.
Support Controller in coordination of the annual operating and capital budgets to formulate budget targets for leadership, provide consolidated reports of approved budgets and manage the budget uploading process into the general ledger.
Review budget submissions for accuracy and compliance with established targets and computation of re-forecasts which may occur during the reporting period.
Responsible for analysis, information collection, and processing of more complex accounting transactions and preparing journal entries.
Serve as lead resource for review and approval of account reconciliations; analyze selected general ledger accounts and activities.
Prepare and/or analyze complex financial reports for Form 990, regulatory and funding agencies and/or organizations.
Supervise staff in the areas of Cash Accounting, Accounts Payable, Fixed Asset Accounting, and General Accounting.
Provide technical support to Country and Regional Offices.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures with regulatory requirements.
Remain alert and responsive to any safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Safeguarding Policy.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
