Geospatial Architecture Specialist
The Geospatial Architecture Specialist shall provide Enterprise GIS, geospatial programming, and analytical support services to support the mission of the Bureau of Indian Affairs (BIA). The Geospatial Architecture Specialist will work under the direction of the Division Chief and Branch Chiefs and collaborate with government GIS specialists, program analysts, physical scientists, and other stakeholders. Services will support enterprise GIS operations, data management, automation, dashboards, and business analytics using tools such as the ESRI GIS Suite, SmartsheetGOV, Python, cloud platforms, and other emerging technologies.Responsibilities: Translate and modernize existing Python scripts and automation tools to new platformsDevelop programs to manage, standardize, and publish large geospatial datasetsDesign and implement automated workflows for land status, parcel fabric, and map productionIntegrate TAAMS land description data with BLM PLSS CAD NSDI GCDB datasetsDevelop server- and client-side scripts using Python, PowerShell, JavaScript, or web technologiesApply geodatabase architecture and system design principlesSupport scripting and automation for special projects across the DivisionRespond to project requests involving GIS, data analysis, automation, dashboards, and applicationsPerform requirements gathering, customer journey mapping, and business process engineeringSupport system lifecycle development, enterprise workflows, and data governanceCoordinate with federal stakeholders to support mission-critical geospatial initiativesEnsure compliance with federal security, data, metadata, and publication standards Requirements:Experience with ESRI Enterprise GIS environmentsProficiency in geospatial data management, analysis, and cartographyExperience with Python and GIS automation; scripting knowledge preferredUnderstanding of federal geospatial standards (FGDC, NSDI, DOI)Familiarity with enterprise systems, cloud environments, and database managementStrong documentation, communication, and stakeholder coordination skills
