We are looking for a Field Engineer to join our Halmar International Team assigned to the MTA’s Second Avenue Subway Project Phase 2.
This position is based in New York, NY, and requires daily presence in the office and/or on construction sites.
This position will support Connect Plus Partners (Connect+), a joint venture led by Halmar International with FCC Construction, for the $1.972 billion contract by MTA Construction & Development to deliver Design-Build Services for the Second Avenue Subway (SAS) Phase 2 Tunneling and Structural Shell.
The SAS Phase 2, consists of the design and construction of the MTA Q line expansion from 116th Street to 125th Street in East Harlem, Manhattan, NY. A section of the Phase 2 project will be repurposed by rehabilitating an existing tunnel built in the 1970s and outfit the future 116th Street Station, this is a key project component and big cost-containment measure for the Second Avenue Subway project. The team will bore two tunnels to 125th Street and then west to Malcom X Boulevard using two Tunnel Boring Machines (TBM) between 35 and 120 feet below ground, including excavating a cavern for the future 125th Street Station.
Responsibilities
Assist in interpretation of drawings and specifications for field crews and craft supervision
Perform quantity calculations by taking measurements and determining percentage of completed/installed materials and work
Assist in the preparation of work plans and work packages
Assist in field surveying and work layout support including elevation, control points, and compilation of as-built data
Participate in jobsite safety reviews, toolbox meetings, mass safety meetings, and safety training
Order and schedule material deliveries
Plan, schedule, and coordinate work groups on the jobsite
Supervise field operations
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree at accredited Civil/Mechanical Engineering or related Undergraduate program.
Demonstrated interest in Heavy Civil Construction, or related field.
Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.
Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.
Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by Halmar International’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
Preferred Qualifications
Actively enrolled in an accredited Civil Engineering or related Masters or PhD program.
Experience using Microstation, AutoCAD and knowledge of reading drawings.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
