Position Overview
The Mercado 536 Part-time Coordinator is responsible for coordinating all day-to-day operations of Mercado 536, a creative entrepreneurship program and co-op. This role ensures smooth vendor participation, accurate reporting, consistent marketing, and effective communication with the community and Mercado 536 members. The Coordinator oversees volunteer scheduling, manages seller data and reports, manages online platforms, organizes Mercado 536 events (e.g. skillshares, mixers, panels) and supports promotional and sales initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Manage daily operations of Mercado 536 to ensure a positive experience for members, vendors, shoppers, and partners. Serve as the primary point of contact for Mercado 536 members, sellers or vendors regarding schedules, logistics, membership and event requirements. Collect, review, and maintain seller reports, sales data, and participation records. Assist with onsite setup, vendor placement, and customer service as needed. Manage and schedule Mercado 536 committee meetings with Co-op membership. Manage packaging and shipment of online purchases. Responsible for working all shifts that don’t get covered by volunteers. Upkeep store displays and signage. Recruit, schedule, and coordinate Mercado 536 volunteers and members. Maintain volunteer communication, orientation, and task assignments. Track volunteer hours and provide updates to leadership as required. Marketing & Promotion
Develop and distribute promotional content for Mercado 536 events, vendors, and products. Create and post weekly marketing materials across social media platforms. Support seasonal or special promotional campaigns and onsite signage. Coordinate with the social media/marketing committee on tasks needed. Website & Digital Management
Update and maintain the Mercado 536 website including vendor pages, event calendars, and product listings. Upload new market information, photos, and announcements regularly. Troubleshoot simple website issues and coordinate with technical support if needed. Administrative Tasks
Prepare weekly and monthly reports on vendor performance, attendance, and revenue. Maintain membership database, payments and volunteer hours. Onboard new members and collect feedback from members active and those who leave the program. Maintain organized digital records and files related to vendors, volunteers, and events. Support compliance with organizational policies and Mercado 536 guidelines. Assist with communications to partners, sponsors, and community stakeholders. Qualifications
Experience in event coordination, retail management, community markets, or related fields preferred. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to manage schedules, multitask, and meet deadlines. Basic proficiency with website content management tools using Shopify (training can be provided). Social media and digital marketing experience is a plus. Ability to work onsite during market hours, including weekends or evenings if applicable. Part-time schedule determined by program needs. Requires onsite presence at Mercado 536 storefront. May involve light lifting, event setup, and outdoor work. Garcia Center’s Mission and History
