Job Description American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an ICU High Acuity Unit night shift position in Illinois requiring an active IL RN license and ICU skills.
Responsibilities
Work in an acute care hospital's High Acuity ICU with 8 beds
Nurse-to-patient ratio is typically 1:2-3
12-hour night shifts (7p-7a) with rotating weekend and holiday coverage
Floating to the Med Surg unit may be required
Patient population includes respiratory failure, post-surgical, wound care, IV antibiotics, post-CVA, post-trauma, and cardiac cases
RNs provide primary care without nurse aids or patient care techs
ICU utilizes Epic EMR and Phillips hard-wired telemetry monitors, with monitoring managed by an ICU telemetry tech
Most ICU titratable drips are applicable including vasopressors, sedation, and pain control drips
Respiratory therapy available in-house 24/7
Nurses are expected to manage PEG tubes, central lines, ventilated and sedated patients, and titrate a wide range of drips
Holiday and weekend coverage is required per rotation and staffing needs
Classroom and two-unit shift orientation provided with a preceptor
Scrubs required; any color permitted as long as in compliance with hospital policy
Tele-health physician coverage available after hours, in addition to dayshift hospitalist
COVID vaccination is not required for this position
Local candidates within 50 miles are eligible for a local rate
Requirements
Active Illinois RN license required at the time of consideration
Minimum of 1 year recent ICU nursing experience
Current BLS and ACLS certifications (AHA required)
Ability to titrate drips such as Precedex, Propofol, Fentanyl, Versed, Lasix, Insulin, Amiodarone, Nitro, Levophed, Dopamine, Cardizem
Experience with PEG tube care/feedings, CVC/PICC/Midline usage and care, tracheostomy patients, sedated/ventilated patients
Must be able to use Epic EMR
Must meet physical demands of ICU nursing
