Job Description:

The Research Analyst position is instrumental in ensuring that VPCC has the timely, accurate, and actionable data and insights it needs to enhance decision‑making and planning, satisfy externally mandated, grant, and accreditation reporting requirements, and support institutional effectiveness and equitable student outcomes. Duties include:
Supporting the research and analysis needs of the College, including external research requests, meeting with data requestors, querying data from various College information systems, analyzing data, and presenting results to requestors or other College stakeholders.
Dataset creation and data visualization.
External mandated reporting and grant reporting.
Performing other duties as assigned, including serving on college committees.
Special Assignments May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications Knowledge
General knowledge in data analytics and the use of data to answer questions and solve problems.
General knowledge in the application of quantitative research methods and both descriptive and inferential statistics.
Skills
Proficient in one or more statistical programming languages (i.e. R, SPSS, SAS).
Proficient in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Abilities
Strong analytical and organizational abilities.
Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively.
Attention to detail with a focus on thoroughness and quality.
Demonstrated ability to independently manage multiple projects and complete complex and detailed projects within established timeframes.
Ability to effectively communicate data findings via written reports, summaries, and presentations to individuals and groups.
Required
Experience in data analytics and interpreting data.
Experience programming in SQL or other related language (i.e., R, SPSS, SAS, Python).
Additional Considerations
Experience working with relational databases.
Experience working in a higher education setting.
Experience in data extraction and analysis within a community college setting.
