Senior Cost Accountant – Manufacturing

About the Role This Senior Cost Accountant role supports a manufacturing operation within a highly regulated industry. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting production-related accounting activity, and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
The role works closely with executive leadership and operational teams to provide reliable financial information that supports both day-to-day operations and broader financial decision-making.
Core Responsibilities
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate, timely financial records in alignment with GAAP and manufacturing industry standards
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
Support cost accounting activities, including inventory valuation and manufacturing variance analysis
Manage and support inventory-related transactions within the ERP system, serving as a resource to operations
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable activities to ensure accuracy, documentation, and timeliness
Perform balance sheet account reconciliations within the accounting system
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax requirements, including preparation and filing as needed
Support internal controls and participate in audits and compliance activities, including industry-specific financial process requirements
Collaborate with operations, supply chain, and engineering teams to provide financial insight supporting production and strategic planning
Qualifications & Skills
Strong organizational, analytical, and critical-thinking abilities
Experience working within
ERP systems in a manufacturing setting
Advanced proficiency with
spreadsheets
and
financial data analysis tools
Ability to
interpret
and
present complex financial information
to executive leadership
Working knowledge of
cost accounting, inventory , and
manufacturing-focused financial practices , preferably within a
regulated
or
aerospace environment
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree
in
Accounting, Finance , or a related field
Minimum of
5 years of progressive accounting experience
At least
3 years of experience supporting manufacturing operations , (aerospace experience is a plus)
Work Environment & Physical Requirements This role requires regular use of computers and phones and involves walking, talking, and use of hands throughout the workday. Occasional lifting of up to 15 pounds may be required.
