Why Join Peraton? Peraton delivers innovative, mission-essential capabilities across cyber, space, intelligence, and defense domains. As one of the nation’s largest mission capability integrators, Peraton supports some of the most sensitive operations in the federal space.
As a senior engineer at Peraton, you will:
Work on real, mission-critical SIGINT capabilities that directly support national security.
Join a high-caliber engineering team recognized for solving some of the IC’s hardest technical problems.
Help shape the technical direction of front‑end modernization for RF intelligence systems.
Influence architecture, drive innovation, and lead technical execution across development teams.
If you are a senior engineer who thrives in high-impact environments and wants to shape the future of SIGINT user interfaces and mission systems, Peraton wants to meet you.
Overview Peraton is seeking a high-impact Senior Software Engineer (SWE) with proven experience designing, building, and sustaining front‑end and full‑stack capabilities for RF SIGINT collection, processing, and visualization systems. This is a senior technical contributor role supporting critical national-level operations. The ideal candidate brings deep technical mastery, understands mission operations, and can lead teams in delivering secure, high-reliability software for complex signal intelligence environments.
You will architect, develop, modernize, and sustain advanced UI/UX components and support services for SIGINT operations, integrating real-time RF data flows, analytics, and mission tools into intuitive operational interfaces. This role directly impacts operators and analysts working in time-sensitive mission environments.
Key Responsibilities Mission‑Focused Software Engineering
Analyze, decompose, and translate mission/user requirements into scalable software architecture and performance-driven designs.
Design and implement new UI features, visualizations, dashboards, and mission workflows supporting RF SIGINT operations.
Integrate front‑end applications with back‑end services, signal processing pipelines, data repositories, and real‑time mission environments.
System Integration & Optimization
Integrate new and legacy software into diverse Linux, UNIX, and Windows operational baselines.
Develop and optimize algorithms and interfaces supporting signal processing, system performance, and time-sensitive mission demands.
Implement complex database and repository interfaces, ensuring high throughput and low latency.
Full Software Lifecycle Execution
Develop, test, debug, and deploy mission-critical software under strict performance, timing, and resource constraints.
Modify and modernize legacy software to adapt to new hardware, operating environments, and mission requirements.
Create, review, and maintain technical documentation, system design artifacts, user guides, and interface specifications.
Leadership & Technical Ownership
Lead or serve as senior technical advisor for multiple development teams, ensuring alignment with mission goals and software engineering best practices.
Select or influence the software development processes (Agile, SAFe, Kanban, etc.) used for major efforts.
Ensure quality control of all team deliverables and enforce rigorous engineering standards.
Work closely with systems engineers, hardware engineers, and mission stakeholders to refine architectures and ensure operational readiness.
Operational Interface & Mission Support
Support installation, configuration, and validation of deployed systems.
Monitor mission system functionality to ensure operational performance metrics are met.
Recommend emerging technologies, frameworks, and tools that enhance mission capabilities.
