The Role Lead the design and execution of global packaging and returnable container strategies that reduce cost, improve efficiency, and advance sustainability goals. Your work will directly impact operational performance and environmental stewardship across our supply chain. This role offers the opportunity to optimize global flows, implement cutting‑edge solutions, and set new standards for packaging excellence. The Containers/Packaging Manager role spans multiple sub‑functions. One sub‑function is associated to Program Management and is to ensure all the design processes are completed within program timing and hence to ensure 100% of containers are delivered on time for launch. The candidate will be responsible to project‑manage and represent containers with the program teams for all container‑related activities. A second function focuses on material flow and container flow operations, ensuring fleets are moving successfully through the network and evaluating the use of expendable in the network. The third function focuses on expendable design, strategy, and purchasing for the parts network, inclusive of service parts. All roles have fiduciary responsibility to manage container capital, expendable, and operational spend. They may also be responsible for expendable packaging plans and benchmarking associated with program parts and reusable container fleet performance.

Position will supervise a team: provide employee development, training, and drive the performance management process as well as manage an efficient organizational structure.

What You'll Do (Responsibilities)

Lead a team of program managers and container/packaging engineers to develop and deliver reusable container fleets to support vehicle launches

Lead a team to support Direct Purchasing with packaging concepts & costs to ensure total enterprise cost sourcing decisions

Support logistics cost savings through more efficient packaging designs & inbound logistic solutions

Manage program budgets for packaging, equipment, and utilize common corporate tools to forecast commits and spending

Influence others within the organization to accept new concepts, practices, and approaches

Hold accountability for staffing, communication, training and development, in addition to directing and prioritizing work, evaluating performance, and removing roadblocks

Develop and track KPIs related to container fabricators and supply base in order to maintain on‑time delivery and first‑time quality

Bring a global perspective and global management experience to assure an integrated, consistent, and concurrent engineering process to program development and execution – from early design to integration and testing. Coordinate execution of global programs and delivery from teams located around the world

Actively engage in external technical communities and benchmarking activities to bring outside perspective to continuously mature organizational capability and improve our products, technology, and processes

Create and foster an inclusive open culture where out‑of‑box thinking is encouraged. This manager will provide thought leadership, foster innovation, facilitate communication, and inspire passion in the organization

Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)

Bachelor’s degree

10+ years relevant experience in packaging, reusable containers, material flow, operations, logistics, or supply chain

Proven track record of directly leading teams with a minimum of 4‑5 people, driving results, and personal accountability with oneself and team

Strategic Orientation, willingness to learn, adapt & be agile, comfort in challenging norms, dealing with ambiguity

Strong leadership and communication skills

Ability to analyze data, develop actionable insights, and present concisely to all levels of leadership

Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities supporting autonomous action

Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to lead diverse/cross‑functional teams as well as mentor, motivate and elicit work output from peers and other team members

Ability to travel 20% of the time Domestic + Internationally

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)

Master’s degree in a related field

Developed skillset with respect to data management tools: Power BI, Excel, TMS, AI, etc.
