Equity & Inclusion Advocacy and Support Coordinator

Reporting to the Director of Equity and Inclusion Projects and Initiatives, the Coordinator will contribute significantly to ongoing and new OEI initiatives. The Coordinator will develop and coordinate OEI Diversity Peer Educators (DPE) and Advocacy Program. This program includes training students to become DPE Associates, assisting with the coordination of a comprehensive restorative justice process and team to support the university's needs, and coordinating the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC), including co- chairing the SDLC Planning Committee. The Coordinator will also work collaboratively with campus units to promote progress on the work of the Office of Equity and Inclusion.
Responsibilities
Co-chair and support the Bias Acts Response Team (BART); provide training, lead meetings, support subcommittees, review reports, coordinate responses, and monitor trends. Organize and assemble BART response and support teams.
Develop and manage the OEI Diversity Peer Educators and Advocacy Program, including training students to serve as DPE Associates who lead peer-to-peer DEI workshops and targeted programming.
Lead coordination of the Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC), including co-chairing its planning committee.
Oversee the OEI internship program in partnership with the Career Networking Center.
Collaborate with student organizations to develop and implement targeted cultural programs.
Manage the
No Space for Hate
campaign.
Support the development and implementation of a comprehensive restorative justice process and team to address university needs.
Facilitate and contribute to OEI-led DEISJ trainings.
Serve as the OEI liaison to Alumni Affairs.
Serve as the primary point of contact for area schools and respond to DEI-related outreach and requests.
Partner with the University Committee on Diversity (UCOD) Subcommittee on Community Outreach and Engagement on campus and community initiatives.
Contribute to other OEI projects as needed.
Salary Salary:
$57,151. SUNY Oneonta is a Public Service Loan Forgiveness qualifying employer. Information on SUNY's comprehensive benefits offerings can be found athttps://www.suny.edu/benefits . Visa sponsorship is not available.
Requirements
At least 1 year of relevant experience providing support projects related to Equity and Inclusion.
Experience working with and serving diverse populations.
Experience serving on a bias act response team or similar team/committee in a higher education setting.
Experience developing, coordinating and assessing student-related DEI initiatives.
Preferred
Master's degree in education, communication studies, or another social sciences field.
At least 3 years of successful, relevant full-time professional experience related to DEI in higher education.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and effectively complete projects with tight deadlines.
Demonstrated excellent organizational and report-writing skills.
Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining collaborative working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
