Job Title: Customer Services Specialist (20/24 hrs., Non‑Exempt, Part‑time)
Location: Hilltop Branch
Starting Pay Range: $17.84 – $23.04 hourly (commensurate with experience)

About the Position As a Customer Services Specialist, you will serve as the primary contact point for customers using the library, ensuring a positive experience by determining customer needs, solving problems, and directing customers to appropriate resources.
Position Schedule
Combination of mornings, afternoons, and evenings (with flexibility).
Alternating Friday/Saturday shifts.
Sundays 1:00 pm ‑ 5:00 pm.
What You'll Do
Process and sort materials accurately and efficiently, including returned, reserved, expired, and new items.
Support the location's customer service plan by greeting customers, answering basic reference and direction questions in various formats, locating or retrieving materials, assisting with library technology, and supporting the code of conduct.
Assist customers with library card accounts, including applications, verification, rule enforcement, payment, and accuracy of records.
Manage money at the location: balance and reconcile cash drawers, verify receipts, prepare deposits, and complete reports.
Resolve customer account disputes through interviewing, analysis, communication, and negotiation.
Assist with location operations such as opening/closing, securing doors, ordering supplies, maintaining public materials and bulletin boards, managing lost-and-found, creating task schedules, and gathering statistical data.
Maintain the library collection by identifying and solving problems, cleaning materials, processing withdrawals and donations, pulling items for review, and maintaining reserve shelves.
Provide training on library technology to customers and staff, troubleshoot problems, and coordinate with Information Technology staff.
Coordinate volunteer activities and orient volunteers or new staff to Customer Services Specialist tasks.
Perform additional duties as assigned, including serving on task forces, committees, etc.
Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D required.
Ability to express oneself effectively and concisely, orally and in writing.
Knowledge of internet and database services.
Ability to operate library technology, including a PC, email, and Microsoft Office.
Reliable transportation to promptly report to job assignment and other locations as required.
Working Conditions and Physical Demands The work environment involves typical office and library risks, including safe workplace practices, avoidance of trips and falls, and observance of fire regulations and traffic signals. Work may involve lifting or pushing up to 100 lb occasionally, and up to 50 lb regularly.
