Lead Ground Maintenance Laborer

Lead Ground Maintenance Laborer role at Gulfstream Goodwill Industries. This position provides leadership to maintain grounds of industrial, commercial, and public properties, including buildings, parks, picnic grounds, and playgrounds. The role supports Goodwill’s mission by maximizing opportunities for participants with disabilities to become independent.
Responsibilities
Cut grass using walking or riding mowers, trim hedges and edges around walkways and flowerbeds with appropriate tools.
Prune shrubs and trees, use hand tools, and apply fertilizer or insecticide as needed.
Plant grass, flowers, trees, and shrubs; water lawns and plantings during dry periods; manage soil conditions.
Pick up and dispose of leaves, paper, and other litter; burn or cart away debris.
Load and unload trucks and other conveyances; move supplies and materials to proper locations using wheelbarrows or hand trucks.
Repair and paint fences, gates, benches, tables, guardrails, and outbuildings.
Assist with repair of roads, walkways, buildings, and mechanical equipment; clean comfort stations, offices, workshop areas, and parking lots.
Assist supervisor with training and supervising assigned staff; check completed work; provide direction and serve as role model.
Schedule and teach work steps for employees with diverse skill sets.
Monitor safety compliance at job sites; operate company vehicle to transport employees to work locations when requested.
Perform or assist with any assignments as required or directed.

Attend and participate in meetings and task force groups; maintain required knowledge of operating procedures, policies, and processes.
Follow safety rules and wear personal protective equipment; keep work area clean and orderly.
Requirements Knowledge and Skills
Ability to follow instructions.
Ability to learn mechanical care and operation of small engine machines.
Prior finish mowing experience preferred.
Experience operating and maintaining various lawn equipment.
Must have a valid Florida driver’s license, valid insurance, and ability to be insured under the company’s vehicle insurance policy for travel to outlying locations.
Physical Requirements
Frequent travel.
Exposure to extreme weather and temperature.
Regular pushing, pulling, stretching, reaching, kneeling, stooping, and bending.
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Tools and Equipment Used Walking/riding-type mowers, hedge trimmers, clippers, blower, weed‑eater, edging tools, hand tools, brooms, mops, hoses, and required personal protective equipment and clothing.
Due to contract requirements, priority will be given to persons with disabilities.
