Base pay range $30,000.00/yr – $30,000.00/yr

This position is for the 2025-2026 school year. Ride a school bus for exceptional children and assist the school bus driver in maintaining discipline while the bus is in operation; operate the mechanical lift. Assist students with loading and unloading. The position is for at least 6.5 hours per day (depends on route) and 178 days per year (170 student instructional days, 4 holidays, and 4 extended days). Contracted days will be adjusted depending on the start date. Considered full time with benefits – see below.

Qualifications

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and provide a copy to HR upon recommendation to hire.

New employees may bring up to 10 years of comparable, full-time, verified experience. Applicants are responsible for submitting the BCPS verification of experience form to their prior employer.

Compensation

Step 0: $16.37 per hour

Step 10: $20.16 per hour

Although classified positions are paid on an hourly rate, salary is set up on a year-long contract and divided by the number of remaining paychecks. The position is considered a ten‑month employee on the pay schedule. Four paychecks will be paid at the end of June.

Formula to calculate salary: hours per day x hourly rate = daily rate daily rate x contracted days = salary salary / number of pays left = gross biweekly pay
