Base Pay Range $30.36/hr - $33.23/hr

By joining our Shepherdsville Section as a Highway Technician Superintendent II, in Bullitt County you’ll have the opportunity to supervise employees in repair of road and highway maintenance, oversee maintenance projects, and inspect work for completion.
Summary of Responsibilities
Supervise and assist employees and contract work in maintenance and repair of roads/highways
Provide technical assistance and oversight on highway maintenance projects and inspect work for completion
Respond to and supervise snow and ice removal and other emergencies
Reviews roadway conditions, determines repair needs and methods, and prioritizes projects for completion
Ideal Candidate Will Have Experience In
Experience working on rough terrain and in changing climates
Experience in equipment operations for road maintenance
Experience completing shift or on-call schedules
Experience working with strict deadlines

Minimum Requirements Education:
High school graduate.
Experience, Training, Or Skills:
Must have twelve years of construction or highway maintenance experience.
Substitute Education for Experience:
Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in engineering technology, construction management, engineering science, engineering mechanics, geology, earth science, industrial drafting, design technology, construction technology or a related field will substitute for two (2) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree in engineering will substitute for four (4) years of the highway related experience in construction and maintenance. Graduate of a college or university with an associate's degree in Engineering Technology with completion of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's Civil Engineering Technology Scholarship Program will substitute for six (6) years of highway related experience in construction or maintenance. College coursework related to any of these fields will substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.

Special Requirements (Age, Licensure, Regulation, Etc.):
Must be 18 years of age. Must possess and maintain a valid driver's and a Class A commercial driver's license with tanker endorsement to qualify for employment in this job classification. The employee must successfully complete the KYTC Highway Technician Academy Leadership Level 2 or equivalent within one year of employment in this job classification. Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification. Employing agency is responsible for ensuring employee possesses and maintains required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials.
Working Conditions Incumbents in this job title typically perform their work at a highway maintenance facility or section office, at work sites throughout the assigned work area and when necessary, district wide. Incumbent will be exposed to risks inherent to working with large equipment and machines involved with road construction. Must be able to work extended hours and be outside during inclement weather. Must be able to respond to emergencies 24/7.
