Job Description The Mortgage Loan Officer conducts initial pre‑qualification interviews, prepares complete loan application packages, conveys credit policies, and meets production expectations set by the Senior Vice President of Residential Mortgage Lending. The officer serves customers, builders, developers, and realtors promptly and professionally, provides general bank information, cross‑sells services, and assists other Mortgage Loan personnel as needed.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old
High school diploma or GED required
Active license number with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry or the ability to obtain such
Mortgage loan processing/lending experience preferred
Real estate background helpful
Knowledge of Bank loan policies, products, procedures, processing, and underwriting guidelines preferred
Familiarity with title reports, insurance, and appraisals preferred
Strong interviewing skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Good analytical and financial skills
Able to operate related computer applications, calculator, and other basic business equipment
Able to accommodate and get along well with coworkers
Able to work in a fast‑paced environment with a large amount of stress
Responsibilities
Interviews, takes applications, and processes preliminary documentation on loan requests, discussing loan alternatives, credit criteria, interest rates, and loan documentation to elicit positive responses from customers
Performs follow‑up work as necessary to achieve conditional approval within established time frames
Notifies customer if loan is referred back to Officer because of problem ratios or credit ratings
Advises customers of loan approval or denial and explains loan denials precisely and clearly to customers
Completes lending operations in accordance with established Bank policies and legal requirements
Informs customers of Bank loan policies and services
Counsels customers regarding money management and financial matters and customers whose loan requests were denied, explaining reasons and alternatives
Coordinates functions with related departments and Branches and provides support as needed
Helps other area personnel as required
Keeps management informed of area activities and any significant problems or concerns
Attends and participates in meetings and committees as required
Stays informed regarding changes in lending standards, related legal requirements, and trends in local real estate and competitive market
Completes required reports and records accurately and promptly
Cross‑sells bank services by maintaining a general working knowledge of all bank products
Promotes D.L. Evans Bank at all times
Serves as a representative for D.L. Evans Bank in the community
Ensures that customers' requests and questions are promptly resolved
Maintains the professional reputation of D.L. Evans Bank
Keeps work area and equipment clean, secure, and well maintained
Completes special projects as assigned
