Distribution Center Planner
Location:
Jackson, TN
Overview The Planner supports the development and maintenance of the outbound shipping schedule, wave planning, assists with expediting high‑priority orders, and helps facilitate communication with customer service teams located outside the distribution center. This is a hands‑on, fast‑paced position that works closely with the master planner and reports directly to the Transportation Planning Manager.
Responsibilities
Support the planning team and assist with communication between transportation, operations, and customer service.
Prepare the outbound truckload shipping schedule for the following work day.
Monitor on‑time pickup performance of carriers and report issues to management.
Work with the DC Operations team to help ensure orders are processed on time to meet the shipping schedule.
Assist the DC Operations team in gathering information to estimate labor requirements for the shipping schedule.
Coordinate with Customer Service, Operations, and transportation providers to help expedite high‑priority orders as needed.
Participate in process improvement activities as directed.
Develop working knowledge of the Transportation Management System and Distribution Management System (DM Plus).
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Logistics, Business, Engineering, or 2–3 years of progressive distribution planning related experience.
Minimum of 2 years progressive experience in planning and scheduling (distribution experience is preferred, but manufacturing experience is acceptable).
Six Sigma experience a plus.
APICS certification a plus.
Must have strong analytical skills.
Must have strong software skills.
Must have excellent communication skills.
