Working under general direction, primarily test setup and equipment preparation for mechanical and electrical tests and inspections as required for power transformer testing. Complete basic electric and mechanical assembly and preparation work as required for transformer test setup. Essential Functions

Prepare hardware for power transformer for testing; prepare wire connections, cable connections, mechanical assembly and prepare a “safe” test environment. Use available test procedures and assembly data to prepare setup. Assist in testing, electrical, and mechanical disassembly of each transformer unit after test completion. Prepare power transformer for tests; material staging and assembly per check sheet, complete needed MRP/ERP computer transactions, basic computer data entry. Change transformer configuration as required to complete additional/next test; read shop paperwork, drawings, mechanical/electrical assembly, staging tooling, staging parts/subassemblies, etc. Maintain test equipment calibration and calibration systems. Operate cranes, power lifts and other material moving equipment as required. Support and assist the Quality/Production areas as needed. Perform work under the guidance and direction of the Test Lab Engineer. Understand and work under the direction of the appropriate HICO policy and/or procedures. Know HICO’s Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work. Non‑Essential Functions

Perform other duties as assigned. Assist in other work areas/functions as needed. Perform basic preventative maintenance and TPM on equipment/machines. Ensure test equipment is kept within calibration cycles. Education / Special Skills / Experience / Training

Two‑year Associate’s Degree from a recognized school in electrical or related technical field plus minimum one year experience in testing or utilities or equivalent education and experience. Multiple years’ experience as Electrician or service technician (high voltage equipment and/or utility industry preferred). Developed written and verbal communication skills. Developed math and electrical engineering skills. Broad experience using inspection tools, instruments and equipment. Developed computer skills for entering and retrieving data. Physical / Mental Characteristics and Environmental Factors

Advanced ability to read and understand mechanical and electrical technical drawings. Ability to inspect work. Ability to work in normal indoor temperatures. Ability to stand and walk 6-8 hours per day. Ability to sit, squat, bend, stretch, and kneel frequently. Ability to work in confined spaces and climb/stand on ladders. Ability to lift and carry up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to use basic hand and power tools. Ability to perform repetitive movements. Ability to follow basic 6S workplace organization skills. Ability to maintain a safe work environment. Seniority Level
