Job Summary The Office for Student Success at the University of Kentucky is accepting applications for a Disability Program Specialist I within the Disability Resource Center. Under the working title of Disability Resource Center Accommodation Consultant, this position will manage a caseload of 300-500 eligible students with various disabilities to evaluate student medical, psychological and education reports and determine appropriate academic and non‑academic accommodations for eligible students with disabilities; apply knowledge of federal disability law to ensure equal access for students; address accessibility issues on campus that might provide barriers to students and members of the university community; and work with students and UK Housing to develop strategies for living at the university. The position also serves in a consultative nature by assisting faculty with the provision of accommodation, developing alternative methods of equitable instruction, mediating issues between students and faculty regarding disability‑related accommodations, and meeting with faculty, other university staff, and stakeholders to educate on disability awareness issues and disability rights under federal law.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Knowledge of Assistive Technology and software, Psychological Assessments, Medical Assessments, DSM V Diagnoses and ICD‑10.

Preferred Education / Experience

Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, Family Studies, Higher Education, Assistive Technology, Special Education, School or Clinical Psychology.
