Continuous Improvement Manager (Product Design/Quality Engineer)

Job Description As a Product Engineer, you will play a key role in embedding Lean principles across AutoZone’s merchandising operations. You’ll lead Kaizen events, train suppliers in lean manufacturing, and drive initiatives that improve product quality and reduce warranty costs. This role requires a strategic thinker with deep experience in quality systems, root cause analysis, and supplier collaboration. You’ll also act as a manufacturing and quality consultant, supporting benchmarking and process optimization efforts.
Responsibilities
Lead Lean manufacturing initiatives and Kaizen events with suppliers to eliminate waste and reduce costs.
Conduct root cause analyses of product failures and implement corrective actions.
Assess and audit supplier manufacturing and quality systems.
Develop and document continuous improvement strategies and processes.
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams and external consultants on Lean projects.
Support product recalls, store testing, and line review processes.
Establish performance goals and coach team members to achieve results.
Qualifications
Minimum 7 years of experience in an automotive production environment.
Expertise in quality management systems, statistical analysis, and Lean/Six Sigma methodologies.
Strong problem‑solving skills and experience with root cause analysis and corrective actions.
Excellent communication and leadership skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio.
Additional Qualifications
Certifications such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer), CME (Certified Manufacturing Engineer), PE (Professional Engineer), or Six Sigma Black Belt.
Experience with APQP, Kaizen blitzes, and product launches.
Familiarity with QS9/ISO9 assessments and value stream mapping.
Project management experience and a global mindset.
