Overview The Department of Psychological Sciences is seeking an entry‑level, non‑tenure track Lecturer to begin in August 2026. The role involves teaching courses in Cognitive Psychology, Quantitative Methods, and Research Methods as well as introductory psychology, and supporting department service functions.

Responsibilities

Teach eight courses assigned by the department chair, including general introductory psychology and selected upper‑division courses such as Cognitive Psychology, Quantitative Methods, and Research Methods.

Provide service to the department, college, or university.

Required Qualifications

Master’s degree in psychology.

Experience teaching in a college environment.

Consistent with South Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) requirements for institutional accreditation.

Evidence of ability as a teacher.

Evidence of scholarly activity and ability to perform all other duties assigned.

Successful experience (waived for recent graduates who meet all other requirements).

Desirable personal qualities judged during interview, biographical data, and recommendations.

Preferred Qualifications

Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.D.) in psychology.

Experience teaching in a college environment.

Shift/Salary/Benefits This position is academic‑year based, typically working August through May. The full‑time equivalent (FTE) is 1.0. Salary and compensation are commensurate with education, experience, and achievements and are subject to the availability of funds. Rank and salary are determined at hire and are based on experience, education, credentials, specialty, training, internal equity, and market data. Advancement through the faculty ranks occurs only through the annual Promotion and Tenure process.

College/Department Information The Department of Psychological Sciences comprises 13 full‑time faculty members and offers undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The undergraduate program includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with an optional Pre‑Medicine track and a minor in Psychology. The department also offers an Accelerated Bachelor of Science with a Major in Psychology to a Master of Arts in Intelligence and Security Studies. The Master’s program offers three concentrations: MPCAC‑accredited Clinical/Counseling, Applied Experimental, and General Experimental. Laboratories are located on the Pamplin College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences.
