Job Summary Key Responsibilities:
Practice as a fully credentialed Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner caring for plastic surgery hand patients under the direction of an attending physician.
Provide inpatient and outpatient medical care services at The University of Colorado Hospital and its affiliates.
Provide independent clinical services for Plastic & Reconstructive surgical patients and act as a physician extender for the surgeons of the hand section.
Be available for ER/urgent consults and serve as a first assist in the operating room.
Lead independent outpatient clinics.
Evaluate and manage patients who are candidates for plastic or reconstructive surgery, including obtaining a thorough history, performing an appropriate physical examination and ordering necessary diagnostic testing.
Cover pager call for consults and patient requests to the hand and extremity service.
Communicate with patients (and families) to provide education about the risks and benefits of surgical procedures.
Triage patient telephone calls/emails and provide consultation.
Provide monitoring and continuity of care for patients between physician visits.
Maintain patient confidentiality.
Electronically document all relevant data regarding patient care in a timely manner and maintain patient confidentiality.
Attend required meetings and participate in committees as requested.
Work onsite, located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s Degree – Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner

Ability to obtain prescriptive authority (DEA Licensed)
Preferred Qualifications:
1 year previous experience in a surgical sub-specialty
1 year previous experience working in an academic hospital
