The Decentralized Float Nurse in the department of surgical specialties is accountable for the delivery of culturally sensitive, age specific direct nursing care for Surgical Specialty patients in multiple ACUs under Surgical Specialties.
Perform phone triage, including assessment, screening, clinical advice, nurse visits (in person/ video visit) in-clinic hands on procedures, and other duties assigned.
Accurate and efficient documentation of nursing care.
Knowledge and appropriate use of internal and external resources.
Provide functional supervision to assistive personnel; collaborate with colleagues, other disciplines, and health care/community services to promote continuity of care.
The Registered Nurse in the Surgical Specialties clinics supports professional nursing practice across practice settings and across the continuum of care to meet the needs of the patient and family; assesses the needs of the patients; plans, implements, and evaluates patient care; and teaches patients, families, orients colleagues and peers. The Registered Nurse demonstrates adaptability to changing needs and priorities based on unit, department, and institutional goals/objectives. The Registered Nurse shows a willingness to adapt to different populations as adult urology medicine demands. Orientation and training provided for new subspecialties on expansion of division.

Demonstrated ability to set and implement priorities, organize and delegate effectively and efficiently.

Demonstrate abilities in interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, organizational skills and problem-solving skill within all levels of the health care team.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan
Five (5) years of RN experience
Three (3) years of experience (within the last 5 years) of direct inpatient or outpatient care for an adult surgical population
NOTE:In order to be considered for this position the applicant must have met or will have met all the required qualifications prior to the start date of employment.

Experience with the ordering/management of DME
Ambulatory care phone triage
Experience providing patient education
Two (2) or more years of recent (in last 3 years) experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC

Salary & Nursing Framework Level:
This UMPNC RN posting is posted as Nursing Framework LEVEL C.
Actual Nursing Framework LEVEL and salary will be determined at time of hire.
Nursing Framework levels range from Level A to Level F.
Required qualifications must be met by the candidate in order to be interviewed and considered for the position.
