About The Role The primary purpose of the Dental Assistant position is to provide direct patient care, perform simple (nursing dental) procedures, and provide technical support to the professional staff in the evaluation and treatment of patients. The role contributes to the overall orderliness and cleanliness of the unit under the direction and supervision of a Staff Nurse. The Dental Assistant provides chair side assistance to doctors performing all dental procedures under local anesthesia. Exercises competency in all procedures within their scope of practice, appropriate to all ages of patients served from neonatal to the end of life.
What You’ll Do
Contributes to the achievement of excellence in health care to fulfill the mission of the unit.
Exhibits strong customer service skills in daily interaction with the public, patients, staff, and physicians.
Performs, monitors and records basic physiological parameters, including blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration, and (oral) intake and output.
Participates in planning and evaluation of patient care by communicating all pertinent information.
Provides direct patient care in accordance with individualized patient needs and dental care plan.
Ensures that two (2) patient identifiers (name and DOB) are used at all times prior to seating patient in exam room.
Takes, develops, and labels all dental x‑rays as ordered by the Provider.
Demonstrates knowledge of all Oral Maxillofacial/Dental procedures.
Qualifications Required
High school diploma or equivalent certification program.
Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Completion of an accredited Dental Assisting Program.
Certification as a Dental Assistant and an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Assistant.
Ability to take temperatures, pulse, blood pressures, and other simple procedures where indicated.
CPR certification.
Registered with the Board of Dentistry to practice in New Jersey as a Registered Dental Assistant.
Possession of a valid Dental Radiologic Technology License issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel.
Preferred
Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Anesthesia Assistant.
Two (2) years of related experience.

Compensation The expected salary range for this position is TT/1650 - $22.58 – $23.09 – $23.78 per hour, in accordance with the New Jersey Pay Transparency Law; final compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
