Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Senior Ultrasound Technologist.

In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic sonographic examinations utilizing ultrasonic equipment in various modes and techniques to locate, evaluate and record pertinent anatomical, pathological and functional data. They will operate ultrasound equipment to produce quality images, perform studies in required modalities, and provide training and guidance to Ultrasound Technology students.

Job Responsibilities

Demonstrate knowledge of the hospital and radiology information systems as they relate to radiology. Select appropriate patient information from HIS/RIS systems in accordance with HIPAA regulations, schedule exams, and ensure orders are verified and processed correctly. Assess patient information and status, identify the correct patient, and review requisitions to determine the required examination, consulting medical staff when clarification is necessary.

Direct and monitor student clinical training: observe students during clinical training, guide them to perform proper ultrasound procedures, convey information to increase understanding, evaluate progress in clinical areas, and monitor work performed by students under supervision.

Demonstrate skill in equipment set‑up, utilization, and proper maintenance. Perform visual and manual quality control checks of radiographic equipment, use imaging and peripheral equipment safely and productively in accordance with prescribed procedures, and report any malfunctioning or missing equipment to appropriate personnel.

Independently implement patient procedures according to departmental protocols and standards. Explain the procedure and equipment to patients clearly, solve problems that arise during examinations using technical knowledge and innovation, adjust examinations to maximize information based on patient condition, and confer with other technologists on previous approaches.

Follow accepted radiologic procedures and use medical information to determine the protocol required for radiographic examinations. Consult policy and procedure manuals or other reference materials to ensure adherence to established protocols, follow special instructions indicated on requisitions, and recognize the need for and follow isolation precautions.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Certificate from an approved ultrasound/vascular technology education program.

Registered or eligible to take the Registry exam (ARDMS) within one year of hire date.

Five years ultrasound experience.

Required Licenses Am Rgtry Diagn Med Sonographer

Preferred Qualifications

Registered as American Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer.

Registered Vascular Technologist.

Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

NYU Langone Health provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92,600.00 - $103,640.00 annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, specialty, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
