Overview
Dental Assistant II – Support dentists in routine patient care. Perform chairside patient care under direct supervision of a dentist or dental student. Duties include dental equipment operation, sterilization, infection control, general office procedures, and front‑desk assignments as needed. Responsibilities
Apply sealant and perform coronal polishing. Prepare and arrange instrument trays; pass instruments to dentist. Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments and equipment. Operate oral evacuation equipment, retractors, and water/air sprays. Inventory, receive, check, and stock supplies and equipment. Expose radiographs and mix impressions and filling material. Complete patient records and provide oral hygiene instructions. Takes pulse, blood pressure, and temperature. Assist dentist in pediatric dental care and front‑desk duties as assigned. Qualifications
Minimum
Completion of a CODA‑accredited dental assistant program; OR one year in a CODA‑accredited dental hygiene program; OR pass the national DANB Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) exam; OR proof of completion of two years (3,000 hours) of chairside assisting under direct control and supervision of a NC licensed dentist. CPR certified. 3‑hour courses in sterilization/infection control and dental office emergencies completed. X‑ray certification. Qualified to perform coronal polishing and sealant certification. Preferred
Graduate of an accredited Dental Assisting Program or office trained with documentation of at least two years (3,000 hours) of chairside assisting and completed required courses and certifications. Location
The Chandler Building in Greensboro is the primary work location with required travel to the High Point Clinic on various days or every other week. Physical Demands
Must perform stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions. Light work up to 20 lbs occasional, up to 10 lbs frequent, or negligible constant. Visual acuity for extensive reading and measurement device use. Driving may be required.
