Equipment Operator at Decatur Utilities
Operates utility equipment, including loaders, backhoes, dump trucks, and trenching machines, in a safe and efficient manner.

Responsibilities
Operate utility equipment on job sites and ensure a safe working area for crew members.
Follow proper trenching and excavation procedures to minimize trench collapse.
Move and position pipe and fittings for correct installation on construction and repair sites.
Excavate and backfill trenches to accommodate manholes, pipes, valves and other fittings.
Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on company vehicles and equipment.
Operate and use hand tools, small equipment and other machinery.
Follow proper safety standards, procedures and policies.
Perform job duties as crew member when not operating equipment.
Qualifications
High School diploma or GED.
Minimum 2‑4 years of additional relevant work‑related experience.
Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, drawings, and procedure manuals.
Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel) as required to perform job tasks.
Valid Alabama Driver's License with Class A CDL; DOT Gas Pipeline Operator Qualifications; Plastic Fusion Certification; CPR/First Aid Certification; Customer Service Skills and applicable safety training.
