7:00am - 5:30pm, four 10‑hour shifts/week, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday

Your role with us Located at Salem Hospital in Oregon’s capital, the Salem Health Bariatric Clinic provides high-quality, patient-centered care in a collaborative and mission-driven environment serving a diverse community. As a Medical Assistant in this clinic, you will play a meaningful role in supporting patients throughout their bariatric journey by assisting with assessments, coordinating care and responding thoughtfully to changes in patient condition.

Your work will directly contribute to patient safety, continuity of care and long‑term health outcomes through accurate documentation, medication safety and clear discharge education. What you'll do

Obtains patient histories, measures and documents vital signs, and reassesses patient status following therapeutic interventions.

Prioritizes patient care needs and intervenes appropriately when conditions fall outside standard clinic protocols, including escalation to a higher level of care when needed.

Coordinates and executes provider orders, anticipates diagnostic testing needs, and ensures accurate documentation and order completion.

Adapts to variations in patient flow, collaborates with team members, and supports efficient clinic operations to maintain continuity of care.

Provides thorough discharge instructions, involves family members when available, facilitates referrals, and connects patients with appropriate community resources.

Performs waived laboratory testing, administers medications within scope of practice, and accurately documents clinical encounters and charges in Epic Ambulatory.

Required qualifications

Medical Assistant certification, such as or equivalent to: CCMA (AAMA), CCMA (NHA), NCMA (NCCT), RMA (AMT), RMA (AAH), CMAC (AMCA), or NRCMA (NAHP).

Additional information

Previous experience with bariatrics or surgery clinics is preferred.

Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 30 days of hire.
