As a Field Diesel Mechanic – Customer Equipment Solutions (Service Tech IV - Field Service - CES), you will perform maintenance and repairs of complex equipment on customer owned equipment with limited or no supervision in a highly skilled, safe, and professional manner. You will have the opportunity to develop leadership roles in our Service Department.
What You'll Do
Perform maintenance and repair of complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and diesel systems on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools while exercising independent judgment.
Travel to customer job sites to repair/maintain customer‑owned equipment and maintain a clean and professional service vehicle.
Assist in training lower‑level technicians as needed.
Maintain paperwork and electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner daily.
Upsell and demonstrate a wide array of complex equipment to customers.
Assist with pick‑up and delivery of equipment and parts.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent.
Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.
5+ years of experience repairing and maintaining equipment and tools.
Advanced mechanical aptitude and working knowledge of tools.
Knowledge of construction equipment and strong mechanical background with various engines.
Advanced understanding of schematics and diagrams.
Own applicable tools to the position.
Superior customer service, teamwork, and verbal/written communication skills.
Ability to frequently lift items up to 45 lbs.
This position is deemed Safety Sensitive for purposes of United Rentals' policies and procedures.
