Job Title Veterinary Technician (Full‑Time)

About the Clinic Okatie Veterinary Center and Hilton Head Veterinary Clinic are growing and looking for an experienced Veterinary Technician to support our additional doctor days. Our teams believe in treating every patient as if they were our pets and giving them the same loving attention and care. We have been serving the low country and surrounding areas since 1968.

Compensation

Salary: $19 – $25 per hour, depending on experience, education, certifications, licensure, and location.

Sign‑On Bonus: Up to $3000 for Licensed Veterinary Technicians; up to $1500 for 5+ years of experience without license.

Schedule & Location

Full‑time, 4/10‑hour shifts, Monday‑Saturday.

Work at both hospital locations.

Responsibilities

Assist doctors with routine patient care, including administering medications, performing blood draws, and placing IV catheters.

Provide nursing care in a hospital setting, including monitoring anesthesia, pre‑operative and post‑operative care.

Run in‑house lab machines, use the microscope, and prepare laboratory samples.

Perform diagnostic imaging, including digital radiology.

Ensure proper animal handling, restraint, and animal behavior compliance.

Communicate with owners and staff, providing excellent customer service and organizing scheduling.

Qualifications

3+ years of veterinary clinical experience as a veterinary technician or assistant.

Degree from an AVMA‑accredited Veterinary Technology or Certified Veterinary Assistant program preferred but not required.

Knowledge of industry tools and equipment.

Passion for working with cats, dogs, and their owners.

Experience with proper animal handling and restraint.

Solid understanding of animal behavior and healthcare.

Basic understanding of common medications, vaccinations, and preventatives.

Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Skilled in IV catheter placement and blood draws.

Experience with anesthesia monitoring and surgical experience, including monitoring, pre‑operative and post‑operative care preferred.

Laboratory skills include running in‑house lab machines, using the microscope, and preparing laboratory samples.

Diagnostic experience including digital radiology.
