Overview
Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and families? Carver County is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to serve in our Child Protection Assessment Unit. Under the direction of the Social Services Child and Family Unit Supervisor, this position will focus on child maltreatment related assessments and investigations to include: assessing safety, planning for initial immediate safety, stability, and well-being of children; developing safety and crisis plans with clients; establishing a network of individuals to be involved with clients for safety and support; conducting assessments and making referrals for further evaluation of client needs; providing case management services and coordinating interventions, services, and treatments for identified client needs; collaborating with other professionals, providers, and authorities involved with clients to coordinate care and measure progress over time; performing required tools and documentation to meet mandates and outline efforts to meet client needs; and performing public relations, public outreach services, and trainings related to specific program areas. Responsibilities
Performs client screening and intake functions and activities for the division or program area.
Performs and conducts a variety of activities, tasks and functions associated with treatment planning, evaluation and assessment.
Implements and provides professional social/human services to clients, their families and/or the community.
Implements and performs all case management requirements, documentations and monitoring required to meet mandates, to document services, and to meet the needs of clients.
Performs a variety of community relations, public relations and outreach services in assigned program areas.
Collaborates with other professionals, providers, therapists, health professionals, internal departments, law enforcement, community or governmental agencies in coordinating resources and in meeting the needs of clients.
Performs other comparable duties of a like or similar nature as assigned.
Qualifications
BA or BS in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or related area.
Minimum of 2 years previous experience in human/social services.
Requires a valid MN driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility.
Must successfully complete and maintain eligibility to provide direct care to clients in accordance with Minnesota Statutes §245C.03.

The highest ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for the scored oral examinations (interviews). Final selection for the position will include successful completion of written exercise, oral interview(s), reference checks, and background investigation, including 604 verification and MNDHS NETStudy 2.0 background.
