Maintenance Assistant
Perform a variety of semi-skilled and manual labor necessary for the maintenance of the facilities, grounds, and highways within the Carver County Public Works Highway System. This is a seasonal non‑exempt position. There is no guarantee of continual hours or future employment, nor county benefits beyond those mandated by state and federal law or as specified in the Personnel Policy Manual. Employment will preferably begin on 5/10/2026 and not extend beyond 9/1/2026. Safety Sensitive Position
This position requires strict adherence to safety protocols. Responsibilities
Perform traffic control functions on highway maintenance projects. Operate light and some heavy equipment for construction and maintenance of highways and grounds. Conduct manual labor to maintain the appearance of highways, grounds, buildings, and facilities. Assist with minor maintenance, construction, and repair of facilities, grounds, and highways. Perform other comparable duties as assigned. Qualifications
At least 18 years of age. Available to work regularly between 7:00 a.m. and 3:30 p.m., with possible shift changes due to special projects. Ready to work more than 8 hours in a single day for special projects. Valid Minnesota Class D Driver’s License. All applications will be screened for minimum qualifications, scored, and ranked. The highest‑ranked candidates meeting minimum qualifications will be recommended for oral examinations. Final selection will include successful completion of oral interview(s), reference checks, background investigation, and a pre‑placement physical examination.
