Assist with routine laboratory techniques such as DNA extractions with clean technique Maintain shared laboratory facilities Communicate with museums to arrange loans Assist with the Division of Fishes’ digitization goals Assist with laboratory purchasing Test the quality of data generated by the lab under supervision of Dr. Santos NOTE: The candidate will not be required to prepare final reports or manuscripts. Minimum Education Required

High School diploma or GED. Required Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of relevant experience in a laboratory setting. Additional Education Desired

Bachelor’s degree in a biological sciences field. Desired Qualifications

Experience with laboratory bench techniques including clean technique and DNA extractions Prior exposure to command line language such as R and bioinformatics tools such as BLAST Experience working in a natural history museum setting Familiarity with online aggregators of museum databases (e.g., VertNet, GBIF) Familiarity with fish biology Prior exposure to high performance computing Prior exposure to biological imaging techniques such as micro-CT scanning Additional Information

The Department of Evolution, Ecology, and Organismal Biology seeks a detail-oriented laboratory technician to join the team. The college hosts 81 majors, 38 departments, and over 2,000 faculty and staff members. Compensation and Workplace

Pay range:

$15.86 – $20.74

per hour (based on internal equity, unit budget, and qualifications). Position duration: full-time, 1-year temporary. Background Check
