Job Summary & Responsibilities As a Histotechnologist, you will prepare specimens for pathologist examination, perform gross and slide preparation, maintain laboratory quality, and support safety and equipment maintenance.
Accession specimens with accurate patient information and specimen type.
Process, embed, cut, mount and stain specimens.
Accurately file slides, cassettes and tissue blocks.
Prepare, label and observe expiration dates on solutions and reagents.
Assist with bone marrow aspirations, biopsies, fine needle aspirations and renal biopsies.
Assist with lab maintenance, including cleaning, restocking, preventative maintenance, instrument performance checks and specimen discarding.
Qualifications Experience & Education:
1 year of previous experience as a Histotechnologist.
Associate’s degree in Histology or Applied Science.
Graduate of an accredited school or program of Histology or Pathology.
Licenses & Certifications:
Histotechnician (HT) certification or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification through the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) – preferred.
