Per Diem Mobile Crisis Intervention Clinician The Mobile Crisis Intervention (MCI) Per Diem Clinician will provide community-based emergency mental health and substance use disorder services to individuals and families in crisis. The MCI Clinician will be available to provide interventions in the community (clients' homes, schools, and other community-based settings), or at the Community Behavioral Health Center (CBHC) site by client or family request. The MCI Per Diem Clinician is tasked with ensuring timely response to calls/requests for assessment and intervention and will coordinate with other CBHC services to ensure continuity of care and appropriate level of care/placement. Ensure a trauma-informed environment that promotes safety and recovery.

Responsibilities

Provide psychiatric and substance use evaluation of individuals and families in crisis in community, clinic, and residential settings.

Provide crisis intervention services including crisis case management and short-term crisis counseling as follow-up from initial evaluation.

Maintain linkages with specific community services by providing documented case consultations and problem resolution; offer recommendations to clients regarding service options and support in accessing.

Perform warm hand offs to other services, full time MCI staff and clinicians, and care coordination entities.

Develop and maintain knowledge of managed care and health insurance systems; provide other clinicians with managed care information and resources pertinent to the crises being managed.

Maintain necessary documentation and records.

Actively participate in supervision and staff meetings.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Master’s degree and at least two (2) years’ experience in human services, preferably working in a behavioral health (mental health and/or substance use) community‑based outpatient setting or an acute or diversionary behavioral health setting. Must have working knowledge of the current version of the DSM‑5. Excellent intake, interviewing and assessment skills. Ability to develop and maintain satisfactory working relationships with employees and providers. Superb interpersonal skills, enthusiasm and commitment to clients. Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated understanding and competence in serving culturally, ethnically, and socially diverse populations. Understanding of social determinants of health and commitment to crisis intervention in the context of whole‑person care.

Required Certifications / Trainings

CPR within 2 weeks of hire

First Aid within 2 weeks of hire

CPSS required within 6 months of hire

VBH NET required

Pay Range USD $25.00 - USD $87.00 /Hr.
