Maintenance Technician

Purpose This position is responsible for all Faxon Machining maintenance beyond day‑to‑day operator maintenance and includes maintaining the machinery and the facility both inside and out. The maintenance technician conducts machine setup, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on all production machines.
Duties / Responsibilities
Carry out the preventive maintenance program
Repair and/or replace machine parts daily while maintaining proper fluids and cleanliness of machinery
Repair of CNC controls, drives, motors, and mechanical assemblies
Plan and perform predictive, preventive, and reactive maintenance
Work with single and three‑phase electrical wiring
Communicate with all department supervisors/managers about scheduling necessary maintenance
Perform the daily preventive maintenance for each machine as needed
Follow company safety policies and regulations
Work in a manner which assures safety of self and others
Carry out spill response procedures
Carry out all other duties as assigned
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent and 5 or more years of experience in a similar position
Strong troubleshooting skills with mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic knowledge
The ability to repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic mechanical systems
Ability to read and understand equipment manuals, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings
CNC machine tool factory technician experience a plus
Safety awareness at all times
Work Environment While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud when working on the shop floor. At times this position also requires some outdoor exposure during the workday. Additionally, the role spans a professional office environment that routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
Physical Requirements The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and climb or balance. The employee must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
