Position Summary The Credit Analyst is responsible for analyzing and underwriting complex commercial credit requests, including commercial and industrial (C&I) and commercial real estate (CRE) loans. This role evaluates borrower financial performance, creditworthiness, and collateral to assess risk and support sound lending decisions. The Credit Analyst prepares thorough credit analysis and documentation, supports ongoing portfolio monitoring, and works closely with lenders, Loan Servicing, and bank leadership. By delivering timely, accurate, and well-supported credit recommendations, this position plays a key role in maintaining the quality, profitability, and safety of the bank’s loan portfolio.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or related field preferred.

3–5 years of experience in commercial credit analysis and loan underwriting within a financial institution, or equivalent experience in loan review, auditing, or financial analysis.

Strong understanding of C&I and CRE credit structures, cash flow analysis, and collateral evaluation.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office products, including Excel and Word.

Familiarity with banking regulations, credit policy, and internal risk rating systems preferred.

Key Responsibilities

Underwrite complex C&I and CRE credit requests presented by lenders.

Analyze borrower financial statements, cash flow, credit history, and collateral to determine credit risk and repayment capacity.

Examine, evaluate, and recommend appropriate risk ratings and loan decisions based on analysis.

Prepare Deal Concept Memos, underwriting narratives, and Term Sheets or Commitment Letters (with lender assistance).

Notify Loan Servicing when loan requests have been decisioned to facilitate documentation and booking.

Perform annual reviews and ongoing monitoring for complex commercial loan relationships.

Maintain and monitor borrowing base certificates for C&I lines of credit secured by accounts receivable and/or inventory.

Work directly with lenders and borrowers to obtain current financial statements, borrowing base reports, and required documentation.

Assist the Director of Lending with portfolio analysis and stress testing of the commercial loan portfolio.

Ensure timely completion of underwriting packages in accordance with internal policies and regulatory expectations.

Support training and mentoring of lending and credit staff related to underwriting standards, credit analysis, and risk management.

Participate in process improvement initiatives to enhance credit quality, efficiency, and consistency.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Some travel to branch or offsite locations may be required.
