Job Description
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions as they guide the learner toward desired outcomes.
The NPD Practitioner continuously uses environmental scanning to intentionally assess opportunities and challenges within and externally to the organization, and identifies opportunities based on global and national healthcare trends, legislative changes, needs of collaborative partners, educational gaps, emerging technologies, and the clinical staff member’s desire for growth.
The NPD Practitioner actively interacts with learners to contribute to nursing professional development processes and ensures the achievement of measurable outcomes, influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings.
The NPD Practitioner plays a pivotal role in strengthening the nursing workforce, serving as a role model, mentoring current and future generations of nurses.
Core Responsibilities
Serves as a resource for clinical inquiry process, including identification of potential projects, and/or subject matter expertise.
Demonstrates a “spirit of inquiry” to support professional curiosity including research, evidence‑based practice, and quality improvement initiatives using the organization’s preferred structure, i.e. PDSA (plan, do, study, act).
Works with others to identify problems and solutions and collaboratively create and assists in the implementation of the changes planned.
Creates a supportive environment for nursing research, scientific inquiry, quality improvement, and evidence‑based practice.
Disseminates evidence‑based practice findings through educational programs, courses, and other activities.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s of Nursing (Required)
Master’s in Acute/Critical Care Nursing – Adult (CCRN) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Advanced Cardiac Life Support Cert (ACLS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
Basic Life Support – CPR Cert (BLS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Nursing Professional Development – Board Certified (NPD‑BC) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Pediatric Advanced Life Support Cert (PALS) – RQI Resuscitation Quality Improvement
Registered Nurse (RN) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR) – EV Accredited Issuing Body
Pay Range $70,682.60 – $131,480.21
