Snout is one of the fastest growing wellness plan providers in the veterinary space, trusted by clinics across the U.S. Weāre a small but mighty startup team of <30 employees. Weāre on the lookout for an experienced Data Analyst to help us turn data into our competitive advantage as we scale our mission to make veterinary care accessible to every pet owner. Ideally, weād like to hire someone based in the Detroit Metro area to work from our Troy, Michigan office.

As our first Data Analyst, you'll be the vital link between data and decision making by partnering with teams across marketing, sales, operations, and finance to transform complex business questions into actionable insights. You'll design reports, dashboards, and visualizations using SQL and analytical tools, conducting exploratory analysis to uncover patterns that drive strategy. Your days will be spent translating stakeholder needs into technical solutions, handsāon data work, and delivering findings that spark immediate action. This role demands business acumen, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to juggle multiple priorities while building scalable reporting infrastructure that evolves with our growing company.

š What youāll do
- Partner with business stakeholders through structured Q&A processes to clarify reporting requirements, understand business context, and identify key metrics and KPIs
- Design and develop reports, dashboards, and data visualizations using SQL and other analytical tools to answer business questions
- Write efficient SQL queries to extract, transform, and analyze data from multiple databases and data sources
- Translate complex business requirements into clear technical specifications, conduct exploratory data analysis to uncover actionable insights, and deliver findings through wellādocumented reports and presentations to business teams
- Ensure data accuracy and integrity through rigorous validation processes and quality checks across all analytical work and reporting deliverables
- Collaborate with crossāfunctional teams including marketing, sales, operations, and finance to support their analytical needs and maintain existing reports based on evolving business requirements
š”What we're looking for
- Bachelor's degree in Data Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, or related field
- 2+ years of experience with SQL for data extraction and analysis and with Excel/Google Sheets for data manipulation and basic analysis
- Proficiency in data visualization tools (such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar)
- Understanding of database concepts and data modeling principles
- Strong analytical and problemāsolving skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication skills with ability to explain technical concepts to nonātechnical stakeholders
